PGY-3 Residents

Class of 2026

  • Madison Dolan, MD

    Dr. Dolan graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan because of the wide variety of opportunities available to tailor her education and training, and she chose Franciscan because of the wonderful people! She enjoys spending time with friends, family, and her dog, Josie. She loves trying new restaurants and cooking. In the summer, she likes to garden and spend time outside. She is always excited to try new things and meet new people.

  • Ana Grandinetti, MD

    Dr. Grandinetti was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. She attended University of Notre Dame for undergraduate (Go Irish!) and University of Kentucky College of Medicine for medical school. Within medicine, she is interested in Sports Medicine, emergency medicine, and hospice/palliative care. When she’s not at work, she plays ice hockey with a women’s team based out of Louisville. If the weather is nice, you can catch her outside attempting to golf or taking long walks or hikes with her dog, Rosie. She loves trying new restaurants around town or new recipes at home. She enjoys traveling with friends and family and hopes to see more of the national parks.

  • Jacob Hamaker, DO

    Dr. Hamaker graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan because it felt like family to him. His wife, Emily, has been in the program for 2 years, enabling him to see up-close what it felt like to be a member of the residency family, and he was eager to join the team. Additionally, he chose Franciscan because of the positive learning environment and strong culture. There is a lot of responsibility put on the residents, which prepares them well for future practice. After residency, he plans to work in an outpatient family medicine clinic and provide sports medicine coverage for local high school teams. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their 1-year old son, Joey, and his extended family. He is an avid soccer player and sports fan. He also enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, and road trips.

  • Aidan Koch, DO

    Dr. Koch graduated from Campbell University. He chose Franciscan because it has a strong, well-rounded family medicine curriculum that he felt would prepare him to practice full-spectrum family medicine. He is considering a sports medicine fellowship, and chose Franciscan for the top-tier sports medicine curriculum. Overall, he chose Franciscan for the people and the culture. Everyone he met has been genuinely passionate about patient care. In his free time, he enjoys working out, playing tennis, golfing, spending time with his friends, trying new restaurants, and hanging out with his cat.

  • Zackery Rankin, DO

    Dr. Rankin graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine and plans to work in outpatient medicine and wound care. He chose Franciscan because of the large variety learning opportunities and rigorous training the residency provides. He also found Franciscan’s intern-led services to be a great opportunity to strengthen personal decision making and leadership while still supervised by amazingly supportive upper level residents and faculty. Dr. Rankin’s hobbies include soccer, snowboarding, video games, travel gear, and fountain pens. He and his wife find fulfillment by volunteering as service dog puppy trainers for Canine Companions.

  • Corey Tom, DO

    Dr. Tom graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan because it has a very specific culture to where you feel like part of a family in residency. All three classes of residents feel like one large family. The residency training, especially in sports medicine is very strong. Dr. Tom’s hobbies include playing soccer, running, cooking, bouldering, and spending time with his wife, Sara, and his dogs.

  • Amanda Turner, MD

    Dr. Turner graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine. She chose Franciscan Family Medicine Residency because the opportunities that the residency offered aligned well with her interests in family medicine including women’s health, inpatient medicine, and procedures. She knew her knowledge and skills would be challenged, but she would also be well supported by her coresidents and faculty. She plans to practice broad spectrum family medicine in rural Indiana after residency. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and helping her husband with home improvement projects.

  • Sydney Ulrey, DO

    Dr. Ulrey graduated from Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine in Knoxville, TN. She chose Franciscan for their strong inpatient services and the autonomy residents are given while feeling supported along the way. She felt that Franciscan had a family friendly culture where everyone enjoyed spending time together both inside and outside of work. After residency she hopes to do outpatient family medicine with a focus on lifestyle medicine and women’s health. Her hobbies include spending time with her dog Milo, and fiancé Jensen, and going for walks, playing games, reading, and traveling.

  • Courtney Yarber, DO

    Dr. Yarber is a native of Northern California who pursued her medical education at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan for its welcoming atmosphere, opportunities for full-spectrum family medicine, and the close-knit relationships among residents and faculty, akin to a supportive family dynamic. In her free time she enjoys reading, crocheting, traveling, and binge watching reality TV.

PGY-2 Residents

Class of 2027

  • Joe Cassell, DO

    Dr. Cassell graduated from Marian College of Osteopathic Medicine. He chose Franciscan for the program’s emphasis on producing well rounded physicians and the supportive environment created by the residents and faculty. As a student he saw the residents striking the perfect balance between working hard and having fun while doing it. He knew Franciscan would be the perfect place for him to grow as a family medicine physician. His interests include full spectrum care, lifestyle medicine, OMT, and supporting women seeking fertility awareness-based methods for family planning and health monitoring. He hopes to stay in Indianapolis for his future practice. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, exercise, golf, home projects, being outdoors, and learning more about our city and what it has to offer!   

  • Nathan Chou, DO

    Dr. Chou is from Kokomo, Indiana, graduating from Purdue University for undergrad and Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine afterwards. He chose Franciscan because of the amazing people, the different opportunities that the residency provides, and the intern led training that would provide experience and confidence. With his wide interest within family medicine including sports medicine, global health, hospital medicine, emergency medicine, and OMT it was important for a program to provide well-rounded training. Franciscan was able to provide this education with unwavering support for their residents not only from the residency staff but from the doctors throughout the hospital and the hospital system itself. Dr. Chou’s hobbies outside of medicine include watching and playing most sports, cooking, video games, board games, and Zumba. He also enjoys spending time traveling and relaxing with his wife and their two cats. 

  • Kirsten Grootenhuis, DO

    Dr. Grootenhuis is a graduate of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan Health because she was looking for a program that truly embraced a family-oriented environment, while also offering strong inpatient and outpatient training. After residency, she plans to stay in the Indianapolis area to practice outpatient family medicine with a focus on lifestyle and preventative medicine. Dr. Grootenhuis enjoys exercising, cooking, spending time outdoors, and going on walks with her husband and dog. 

  • Ben Herman, MD

    Dr. Herman is a graduate from Indiana University School of Medicine. He chose the Franciscan Health Family Medicine Residency for the friendly people he met during his interview process and for the support residents have in the program. He especially enjoyed the opportunities the residency offers including frequent sports medicine and dermatology clinics. After residency, Dr. Herman wants to work in a rural outpatient clinic setting with emphasis on lifestyle medicine, dermatology, and procedures. In his free time, Dr. Herman likes to spend his free time hiking or kayaking with his soon-to-be wife Daisy and their dog named Kitty. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, cooking, and snow skiing. 

  • Valerie Knight, DO

    Dr. Knight chose Franciscan Health for residency because she found the team environment appealing and the residents and faculty welcoming and passionate about patient care. After residency, she hopes to practice outpatient medicine in Indianapolis and incorporate her interests in behavioral health, women’s health, and preventive medicine. In her free time, she enjoys being on the Monon Trail with her husband, doing puzzles, camping and spending time with friends and family.

  • Mansi Pandya, DO

    Dr. Pandya was born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. She graduated medical school from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine.  Within family medicine, she is interested in global health and lifestyle medicine. She chose Franciscan Health because of the camaraderie amongst everyone apart of the residency and the supportive culture. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family and friends. One of her favorite things to do around town is try out different lattes around the city and walk around. Otherwise, she also enjoys being outdoors, hiking, and traveling. 

  • Stephanie Rathjen, DO

    Dr. Rathjen graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She chose Franciscan Health because of the friendly culture and its focus on making broad-spectrum family medicine physicians. She has enjoyed the wide variety of opportunities Franciscan provides in women's health, procedures, and pediatrics.  She has loved getting know all the wonderful people that work with her and all that Indianapolis has to offer. In her free time, she loves walking/hiking with her dog, spending time with her family, playing ukulele, reading, and checking things off her Indianapolis bucket list with new friends. 

  • Matt Turton, DO

    Dr. Turton graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He knew Franciscan was where he wanted to end up for residency from the moment he first walked in the door. The compassion, friendliness, and overall positive attitudes of the residents and faculty were tangible and stood out right away. He felt he could get the best training to become the most well-rounded family physician at Franciscan, and immediately felt like he was welcomed as part of the family. After residency he plans on practicing outpatient family medicine with an emphasis on sports medicine, lifestyle medicine, and osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). In his free time he really enjoys working out, spending time with his family, girlfriend and their cat, exploring all the different coffee shops around Indy, and celebrating Halloween all 365 days of the year. 

  • Andrea Velazquez, DO

    Dr. Velazquez graduated from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan Family Medicine Residency because of her desire to continue serving the Indianapolis community while training in full-spectrum family medicine. Dr. Velazquez’s first rotation in medical school was with the Franciscan Family Medicine Residency, and it was her favorite rotation! Franciscan's culture of supporting their residents in pursuing their professional and personal goals is unmatched. Also, many of the past residents have continued to work for Franciscan Health after graduation, which is a testament to Franciscan's supportive and welcoming community. Dr. Velazquez has a special interest in obstetrics and pediatrics. When not with patients, Dr. Velazquez can be found hiking and camping in National Parks, coaching her daughters' sports teams with her husband, walking her dog, or tending to her plethora of indoor and outdoor plants. 

PGY-1 Residents

Class of 2028

  • Emre Coskun, DO

    Dr. Coskun chose Franciscan Health for residency primarily because of the supportive environment created by residents, faculty, and staff. As a student rotating with the program, he was impressed by the strong ties the program has with the community as well as the comprehensive training that residents receive.  This made him confident in becoming a compassionate and well-rounded family physician in the future. After residency, Dr. Coskun hopes to stay in the Indianapolis area as a primary care physician with interests in lifestyle medicine, addiction medicine and underserved populations. In his free time, Dr. Coskun enjoys gardening, cooking, woodworking, and spending quality time with his family, friends, and pets. 

  • Emily Lugthart, DO

    Dr. Lugthart is from Long Grove, Illinois. She completed her undergraduate education at Loyola University Chicago then attended Midwestern University for medical school. She chose Franciscan Health for its welcoming culture and for the comprehensive broad-spectrum training offered by the program. Her special interests in medicine include women’s health, obstetrics and LGBTQ+ healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys reading, being active outdoors, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her partner and their dog, Squirt! 

  • Jake Herr, MD

    Dr. Herr is originally from Carmel Indiana and attended IU medical school after graduating from Purdue University. He chose Franciscan because of the warmth and kindness of the people that he met during the events and when shadowing. He felt that the people he met amount of the type of physician that he someday looked to be and felt it would be a perfect environment for him. He was also impressed with the quality and the breath of the training that he was able to receive especially given his interest in sports medicine, MAT, lifestyle, and NFP, geriatrics, and the underserved. In his free time, Dr. Herr enjoys watching and playing sports especially golf, basketball, and football as well as getting together with his family and friends for a good male or front event. He also enjoys learning about other nonmedical topics like languages and history while taking across town trips to try new coffee shops with his wife.

  • Kelsie Jackson, DO

    Dr. Jackson is from New Palestine, Indiana and attended Indiana University before graduating from Marion University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  She chose Franciscan because of the culture that she witnessed during her rotations with the program.  She noticed that not a day went by when she was not laughing with the other residents, feeling supported, and learning something new.  That combined with the strong clinical training made to feel like an ideal place for her to grow into the best position that she can be.  She is interested in geriatric medicine and possibly hospice/palliative medicine as part of family medicine.  When she is not sitting or in the hospital, she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends as well as her dog, Franklin. 

  • Karly Eichenauer, DO

    Dr. Eichenauer grew up in the tiny, Northern Indiana town of North Manchester surrounded by cornfields and not much else. She is a graduate of Marian University Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine. While rotating here, she felt the genuine enjoyment that the residents, faculty, and staff have with each other and the workplace and loved the family atmosphere that it created. With her interests in OMM, Sports Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine, she felt that this connection would make the long, difficult hours more fun and create a great learning environment. After work, you can usually find her in the flower or vegetable garden, cooking a new recipe with her husband, or walking their dog, Sammy. In her free time, she likes to play tennis, pickleball, and golf. She also likes exploring Indiana State and National Parks on her days off! 

  • Luke Vandeventer, MD

    Dr. Vandeventer is from Bloomfield, Indiana and went to Indiana University for both medical school and his undergraduate degree.  During his interview day, it was clear that everyone in the program cared about creating a great learning environment and was welcoming and inviting.  He was able to see the culture support that Franciscan had created was a driving factor in his decision to choose Franciscan.  He is specifically interested in geriatric medicine, public health initiatives, and renal health.  In his free time, he enjoys playing Uecker with friends, entertaining his cat Willow, touring on the Indiana pacers, and exploring local restaurants with his wife.

  • Allison Seacat, DO

    Dr. Seacat is originally from Las Cruces, NM. She attended the University of Arizona for her undergraduate degree before graduating from Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She chose Franciscan Health for residency because of the supportive environment and wonderful people in the program that she knew would contribute positively to this next step in her training. After residency, she would like to practice outpatient family medicine with special interests in lifestyle medicine, behavioral health, and preventive medicine. In her free time, she enjoys playing piano, listening to music, working out, golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family, friends, and two cats. 

  • Taylor Osborn, DO

    Dr. Osborn grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana and attended Purdue University before graduating from Marion University College of osteopathic medicine.  She loved the welcoming and positive atmosphere that she found with Franciscan during her audition rotation with every resident expressing genuine provide and being part of the program.  These same reasons also discussed the exceptional quality of education that they are currently receiving.  Given that she is still exploring the numerous aspects of family medicine, with consideration of lifestyle and woman's health high tracks, she is excited to learn full-spectrum family medicine at Franciscan.  Outside of medicine, she enjoys running, hanging out with her 11-year-old sister, reading, and hiking. 

  • Michael Partridge, MD

    Dr. Partridge is from Indianapolis, Indiana and is another resident who attended Purdue University for his undergraduate degree before going to Indiana University for medical school. He chose Franciscan for a variety of reasons. From his first impression, it was clear that this program offered the ideal environment to continue his training. The strength of the curriculum, combined with the genuine and very friendly community that he experienced during his interview day, along with the social events, made him feel immediately welcome and at home. Additionally, having previously worked for Franciscan in Lafayette, he already had a very positive impression of the organization. He plans to practice outpatient in hopes to survey population with a wide variety of health barriers. In his free time he enjoys playing and watching sports, hiking, board games, reading, and swing time with his fiancée, family, and friends.
